The NGO Council Of Kenya Lauds Ethiopia Africa Union (AU) Led Peace Efforts

The NGO Council of Kenya join other peace stakeholders at Africa continental level in welcoming the momentous step taken in Pretoria to advance the African Union’s campaign to “silence the guns” with the signing of a cessation of hostilities between the Government of Ethiopia and the Tigray People’s Liberation Front.
 This is a good step in the right direction that Africans need to advance sustainable peace in the continent. We commend the parties for taking this initial step to agree to end the hostilities and continue dialogue to resolve outstanding issues to consolidate peace and bring an end conflict.We further welcome delivery humanitarian assistance and the protection of local civilians through the  agreement. We strongly commend the Government Government for the support they have accorded the peace talks through the former president Uhuru Kenyatta with the blessings of the current President Dr. William Samoei Ruto, The NGO Council of Kenya further comments  AU Commission Chairman Faki for the leadership as well as the extraordinary efforts of AU High Representative Obasanjo,former South African Deputy President Mlambo-Ngcuka, and  Kenya’s former Uhuru Kenyatta, whose facilitation led to this significant step toward peace negotiations process and indeed commend South Africa for generously hosting the talks. The NGO Council of Kenya  and its Membership working in the region and the continent with remain committed partner to  to peace processes in the region, we urge  AU and other stakeholders such as UN agencies IGAD, and other regional and international partners to support implementation of peace and sustainable peace measures in in every part of our  Africa continent, Enhanced partnership to support peace, humanitarian efforts and sustainable development is a great move to African continent.  we strongly commend Kenyans efforts in africa continent peace process. we  further urge peace stakeholders in Kenya to always work together to peace sustainable peace efforts among our local communities.
The NGOs Council of Kenya among other key partners will early next year  2023 host host an African NGOs summit in Nairobi Kenya to among other  thematic issues to deliberate the role of NGOs towards sustainable Peace, Good Governance, Climate Change and Sustainable  Development.
