The NGO Council of Kenya CONGRATULATES all Kenyans for voting PEACEFULLY during the General Elections that took place on Tuesday 9th August 2022, the council urges all the Candidates to accept the decision of the people.
The NGO Council further congratulate All the WINNERS for various positions especially Members of County Assemblies, Members of Parliament, County women representatives, Senators and Governors in the just the 2022 General Elections.
Speaking during an interview the NGO Council National Chairman Stephen K. Cheboi said so far the election counting, tally and announcement of results had gone on smoothly in several areas but noted that more time was needed to establish the eventual winner in the presidential race. We ask Kenyans to be patient as tallying is ongoing.
Cheboi praised Kenyans for remaining sober and focused as the different results are announced for MCAs, Women Rep, MPs, Senators and governors saying " winners and losers must now join hands for the sake of PEACE and development in various parts of the Country."
The NGO Council said so far IEBC had conducted itself well despite logistical challenges here and there and expressed optimism that all would be well.
Cheboi said that the more than 12,000 NGOs who are council members where doing their best to promote peace and harmony among Kenyans throughout the campaign's period and Elections day countrywide and noted that the efforts had borne fruits.
The NGO Council appreciate all it's NGO and CSOs Members for the great work during the Elections Process.
The Council appreciates that "There was no polling booths fracas as experienced adding that Wananchi should remain peaceful even after the winner of the presidential race is announced. The NGO Council will continue championing for stability of the nation at all times, the Council and members will work with all the Elected leaders between now and another time Kenyans make another decision.
