NGO Council Of Kenya In A Bid To Assert Peace.

NGO Council Of Kenya In A Bid To Assert Peace.

The NGO Council of Kenya has welcomed a move by the IEBC to begin daily press briefing beginning Sunday July 31 2022 saying this will help to allay unnecessary fears and mistrust with The National Council  of NGOs Chairman Stephen Kipchumba Cheboi said IEBC had heeded calls by stakeholders who included civil society to conduct all its operations in a transparent and credible manner.

"Its great that IEBC has heeded calls by the public to be transparent at every stage of its operations" Cheboi sad adding that stakeholders must now lend a hand to the commission in whatever area it might come short as they are as human as all of us.
"Its wrong to continue to demonize the IEBC all the time which is battling with massive logistical challenges of fielding 16000 candidates vying for 1800 positions" adding that the task at hand will be no walk in the park.
The Chairman said IEBC boss Wafula Chebukati should remain forthright, devoted and firm while dealing with politicians as the commission is an independent body that must not be bullied around by politicians.
"We welcome this new development by IEBC all lingering doubts, questions and mistrust will be allayed through the press briefings" Cheboi said and challenged the media, observers and stakeholders to interrogate the process to ensure a credible and verifiable election come August 9 2022.
