NGO Council Appeal For Calm Among Kenyans

Kenyans countrywide have been urged to uphold the prevailing peace and not be divided by the case to be filed at the supreme court on by the Azimio One Kenya challenging President-Elect win in the August 9 2022 general elections.

THE NGO COUNCIL OF KENYA national Chairman Stephen K. Cheboi said Kenyans should remain calm and patience as exhibited since voting and await the outcome of the supeme court whose ruling will be final on the disputed presidential election results.

"Lets give the court process its constitutional role to arbitrate the presidential election dispute tand make its ruling as we go about our daily acitivities and uphold peace and unity" Cheboi said.

"The National Council of NGOs urges all the political parties and their supporters to allow the judiciary time as provided by the law when Azimio la umoja files its petition as indicated on Monday" said Cheboi adding that Kenyans had kept peace and harmony since voting on Tuesday 9th August 2022 ,

"The NGO Council further urges all the winners and losers for the various positions i.e MCAs,MPs, Senators and Governors to continue in the same peaceful spirit of give and take to avoid any possible election related violence or acrimony" he said,

"The NGO Council appreciates the people of Kenya for voting peacefully and satisfied with the way voters have conducted themselves and IEBC officials through reports from our county and sub-county Network who monitored the process." he said.

"We take this opportunity to laud all other Observers and civic groups for a job well done in participating in the 2022 general Electoral Process.

We further laud Kenyans for electing more women to various leadership positions in the Country.

 He said the NGO Council and Members will continue to champion unity, peace and social harmony at all times. "We urge leaders who have been elected to be servant leaders and serve the people as per the promises they each gave during the campaign period.

 "The NGO Council is confident that our judiciary will deliver a verdict that will reflect the freely expressed will of the majority of Kenyans when they cast their votes Tuesday August 9.

"We urge winners and losers in the closely contested elections to embrace and acknowledge each other.
