The National Council of NGOs-Kenya was part of participants of The Kenya Youth Election Debate, a special live event that was hosted by BBC Africa at the Kenya National Theatre.
The debate brought together think-tanks from diverse sectors in Kenya both as panelists and audience. Among the panelists was: Hon. David Osiany- The Chief Administrative Secretary, Ministry of Industrialization, Ms. Stella Agara-A Youth and Development specialist, Mr. Ronald Asumba-Tony Blair Institute of Global Change and Nerima Wako- The Chief Executive Officer, Siasa Place.
The debate aimed to interrogate whether The Kenyan Leadership has failed the next generation with a key focus on Livelihood and Economy, Governance and Accountability and Inclusivity and Cohesion.
Challenges affecting the youths most notably unemployment, Lack of Information and unequal opportunities were raised and discussed at length. To solve this, youths were encouraged to increase their participation in National Development Plans and desist from being used as agents of perpetrating violence especially as we approach The August 9, General Elections.
