The National Council of NGOs-Kenya joined Mathare Community Education Organization (MCEDO) Beijing community School as they received book donations from their Chinese friends led by Kenya China Chamber of Commerce (KCCC).
The school being located in the informal settlements of Mathare slums, students in the school experience a number of challenges ranging from poverty, congestion in classrooms and shortage of learning materials.
Speaking during the event, The Chinese friends of the school said that the book donations was a step towards excellence and part of a long-term goal of promoting friendship and deepening exchanges and cooperation between the two countries.
The Chairman of the National Council of NGOs-Kenya Stephen Cheboi lauded the role that Non state actors continue to play in improving Education in Kenya. He urged the students to utilize the reading materials well since Education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty and Transforming communities, nation and the world.
